Happy Women's Day!
Mar. 8th, 2005 05:34 pmToday, 8th of March, is the Women's day here in Norway. I don't know how it is elsewhere in the world, but we have it here.
On this day, the local newspaper BA had, on the front page, A guide to single women to locate single men.

EXCUSE ME!?!? Is this what they think we want to see!? It might not have been meant in any harmful way, but it sure angered me. As if society isn't couple-fixated enough as it is; do we really need this on Women's Day, where we really should focus on how women can manage without a man? I'm not saying that it's wrong to have a man in your life, I'm just saying that it's wrong to focus so much on it, because it creates the image that a single woman is an incomplete woman.
So I'll finish with my favourite quote about feminism:
"I myself have never been able to find out precisely what a feminist is, I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat."
