I just watched the first episode of Doctor Who season three. Spoilers within.
The scariest thing in the world is a little old lady saying "I brought a straw". The Doctor was a bit scary, too - he looks perfectly mad sometimes, when you see the whites of his eyes and he starts getting more and more intense.
I really, really liked Martha. I liked her family dynamic - it seemed like she was the go-to person in her family. It's probably where she learned taking things calmly.
I liked her dynamic with her fellow med student - the one who pointed out the rain going upwards. They sort of seemed like friends, and Martha got to show her handling of a crisis with her.
I liked that she was so smart and competent. The doctor commented on it twice, and I think her cleverness is going to be what sets her apart from Rose. Not to speak badly of Rose, but she was never really critical to what went on around her. Not critical in a negative way, but in an asking constructive questions thing.
I can't remember what that other question Martha asked was, but it had to do with what I'd loosely define as world building. I love world building. I think I would have asked the same thing.
Oh, yeah. And those intergalactic cops. Loved them. Cross on the hand - checked out. A note for compensation.
Still, with justice served as swiftly as they did, and the whole hospital being in danger of executed for harboring a criminal they didn't know was a criminal - space is certainly a brutal place.
